The Cat and the Wisteria

This started out as a little exercise in architectural features ( a door) and ended up with 5 gazillion French knots.
But it should warm you up just looking at it. Thanks to the board members who passed on a few hints on doing all those knots..... And who doesn't love cats.

Beautiful work, well done.

I have yet to master a french knot. I bet you are a pro now! Love the subtle cat almost hidden amongst the thread play. I would have had trouble finding it if you had not posted the closeup!

Tartan 01-27-2014 11:06 AM

It turned out great! Your kitty looks like he is contemplating a trip up the wisteria vine.:)

PaperPrincess 01-27-2014 11:08 AM

Hi! Have you Been to Provence? My husband took this photo of me seated in front of a private home inside the walled city of Aigues Mortes. Looks like your quilt, doesn't it?

IzzysGrammie 01-27-2014 12:19 PM

Oh My Goodness! This is gorgeous!

RedGarnet222 01-27-2014 12:26 PM

I love wisteria! The smell is intoxicating. The only thing I don't like is it drops things all year to pick up and it will warp a fence completely out of shape as it grows thicker.

I really enjoy your picture mary kathrine. It is so European.

Jingle 01-27-2014 12:35 PM

Very pretty. I use to do the french knots when I embroidered. Never that many at once.

Raggiemom 01-27-2014 01:03 PM

Incredible work!

You do beautiful work.
On our way to Sudbury we have stayed in Guelph. If we do it again I just might have to look you up.

I can not imagine making all those French knots. It is a beautiful quilt. Love the cat in the corner too.

LindaMRB 09-19-2016 05:30 AM

OMG, all those knots! I love the composition and, of course, cats!

Sewbeeit2 09-20-2016 01:10 PM

Beautiful interpretation. I grew up thinking every place had wisteria in the back yard, or it should. It completely filled a large catalpa tree.
