I need to fluff the top up more - I haven't fooled with it for a while and the weight of it pulls it down some. I'm SOOO glad she made it when she did. After this she went into her "bullet-proof double knit" phase. The quilts I have for my son are from that era. :)

It is beautiful. I like how you have it displayed on the wall as a dress.

#1piecemaker 06-29-2012 07:27 PM

At first, I thought it was a dress. I love the hanger and the way it is displayed. this has always been a pattern that intrigues me, yet I have never tried. Beautiful!!

lollygagging 06-29-2012 07:34 PM

Well, I'm not sure which I like most; the quilt or the hanger! Love the way you've displayed it! It is a lovely heirloom and I'm sure you will cherish it forever. Do your little ones enjoy it from afar as well? lol Thanks for sharing.

That is so beautiful! It's one of my dreams to make a cathedral window quilt. When I first looked at the picture, I thought it was a dress made from the quilt!

jad1044 06-30-2012 06:21 AM

How creative to have it displayed as a dress! and how lovely is the work in this quilt - just gorgeous... I keep saying "someday" and maybe that someday will come! It is one of my favorite designs; bless you for preserving a piece out of the past!

I remember a friend of mine from the early 70's who was making a CW quilt. I saw all the time it took to make and I said no way and returned to my crocheting. Now I am the quilter and she is a painter and archeologist. I wonder what has happened to her CW quilt? Your posting reminded me of my long lost friend. I think a should do a google search for her and ask.

Is that 'bow' a quilt hanger? Where did you find it? I love this idea of displaying a quilt to look like a gown.

Your grandmother's quilt is beautiful. I cherish the things we have passed to us from our loved ones. I have never seen a hanger like that, but it is beautiful how it hangs like a long gown, and yes it is like displaying a wedding gown. Thank you for sharing a family treasure with us.

CAS49OR 07-01-2012 01:41 PM

WOW! it is beautiful, and I love your display!

delma_paulk 07-01-2012 03:38 PM

Beautiful and lots of work, please be sure to turn your quilt with the other end in the bow at least every 3 months so your batting will not settle to one end. Such a nice thing to have.
