[I put it in the washer on gentle cycle with some special bath for old quilts] What was the special bath you used? I have several old quilts that I need to clean but haven't because I didn't know what to use. I would love to get them clean before the weather turns too bad to dry outside. I never put quilts in the dryer.

I picked up a product at my LQS it is called Vintage Textile Soak, here is the website http://www.vintagetextilesoak.com/ if you want to order it on line. It was pricey but you don't need much.

Love what you are doing with this heirloom! It is becoming even more beautiful thanks to your loving hands.

What a great solution. Be sure and take it back to the guild to show what you did. Most people don't want to handle an older quilt and if you did not know them is probably why there was not a lot of interest in checking the stitches.

It is too bad that your visit to the guild was a bad experience. I formed a very lovely quilting group where we share ideas and help each other, no formality just great fun and fellowship.

I love the Cathedral Window Quilt, have made two and taught making it numerous times (all for free to keep the tradition alive). I have done the outside edges two different ways, one I roll back the white squares like you are doing to form a faux border and the other way is to fold the window squares in half to form a triangle window. I teach an easy setting of the squares but yours is looking great! Keep going, it will be worth all the effort.
