Yes, I do use panel prints. Since we just got a, orange Tabby I had to have this one. I decided to stagger the rows on the left and right. I chose the French braid as a motif because our Tiger cat is always moving up. He likes to sit on our 7' armoir and look down on us.

Very cozy looking. I like the braid in the middle to widen the panels.

You are right about my reasoning. I wanted to make the finished quilt the size of my batting pack, and make it big enough for some serious quilt cuddling, whether with a cat or a grandchild.

I love your quilt--almost looks like you have 4 cats lying around on your quilt, as cats are prone to do!

Good Morning, this is so pretty! Can I ask (still trying to identify, I am a beginner) is this a French Braid? and my name (as you can see) is Pamela, from Lakeland, FL

Yes, it is a French Braid. I have been quilting for 11 years and regularly research quilts in Barbara Brachman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Blocks and her other of appliqued blocks, but I only just learned the French Braid name for this column, although I have known it as a Prairie Braid variant for several years. Nobody knows all the blocks etc. Feel free to ask.

Nice! Looks like you found the perfect panel. I like the way you've designed this quilt. Love the explanation of the french braid. This quilt tells a story. (Just finished watching Why Quilts Matter and I'm trying to put into practice what I learned.)

Really like how you have put this all together.
