How convenient for me that you are so far along on your quilt. I just started a Double Irish Chain. I've not made one before. I love the quilting in the centers. You're giving me good ideas for when I get mine together.

Gorgeous! I'm still doing the hand quilting on my first Double Irish Chain (king size). It's kind of been forgotten, but you've inspired me to get back to it!

Oh WOW! Killer fabrics, matching all those dang little squares, festive quilting, and overall beauty. I think you've outdone yourself! Naw, make more! :D :D

Wow, this is simply stunning, and I thought I was being ambitious thinking about working the triple lattice. How big are the individual squares on it? I can see where the more chains the bigger they get in a hurry, even with the smallest of squares. Please Patrice, please tell me you strip pieced this one.

patricej 01-27-2008 01:42 AM

they are 1.5" finished squares. and yes ... strip pieced.

i made 30 blocks back in november with the intent of making my niece a bed quilt as a wedding present. turns out, she and hubby are afraid to put anything nice on their bed because her cat is destructive. they will be happier with matching lap quilts instead. (needless to say i was very happy to hear that. i was not looking forward to wrasslin' a super-king sized quilt.) i'll get 3 laps out of it.

eventually.
