What an awesome way to use stripes! I love it!
My friend loves card trick quilts. She would have fits if she saw this one.
Wow! that's gorgeous! Nice job matching all those stripes!!!
Wow!!!! That is beautiful. I love it.
What a beautiful quilt! I can tell how much work, time and effort it took. And a ton of patience :)
You did a wonderful job - and should be very proud of it! |
all these quilts are sooooo beautiful, this one looks so hard to do and complicated, I could never do this one - or I should say "maybe one day" I am not that experienced to takle one like this - it is absoulutly beautiful.

JennyPenny, This is a beautiful quilt. I like the card trick pattern, also. I haven't seen it done with strip material. Eiltcoq.
Absolutely Georgeous!!! You did a gorgeous job and so much attention to detail!!! I can see why someone would want to buy it and you can be sure it will be well taken care of. I want to someday try the card trick quilt, not with that kind of detail though. Good for you.

I love the card trick block but this gives an added zing.
Great job! |
Amazing!!! I can only imagine the work that went into cutting and matching up all those stripes. I'm not sure I could have let it go, but for the right price my husband would have probably made the decision for me! :)
WOW!!! What a beautiful quilt! Great idea using border prints.
Your use of the stripes gives the quilt such depth of field, almost like 3-D... like Avatar the movie!
Geez! I have the fabric to make a Card Trick, but it's gonna look pretty boring compared to yours! You did a fabulous job! It's stunning! Congratulations.
Boy, you went to a lot of trouble on this one! It's gorgeous! Hope the guy paid you a truckload of money for it!
that is so awesome!
I likey!!
All I can say is WOW!
that is beautiful. I love the colors you use. thank you for sharing Penny
One of the prettiest quilts I've ever seen. I can understand why the gentleman who is a collector wanted it!!!!
That is a beauty. It's hard to find the right fabric for something like that and you sure hit the mark. Congrats on a great quilt. I'm not sure I could have parted with it either.
I can understand why the gentleman wanted it. Too bad you didn't sell it with a clause that you got it back after he passed. You matched the lines so well , the first thing that I noticed was the use of only two colors in each set of cards. Makes it pop differently from most card tricks. Was that in the pattern or your idea?
I really like that pattern,,,very eye tricky
Very cool quilt! Lovely!
Absolutely Stunning! You have inspired me with your design.
Sooooo cooolll!!!!!

Oh I like this one! Great job and love the fabrics you used!

How did you line up the strips to meet?
I do see why that man bought your quilt! That is really just awesome!
I think you're going to have a lot of people collecting interesting striped fabrics now! I know I'm thinking about it!!! |
What a work of BEAUTY. You are very talented.

WOW! Thank you everyone for all the compliements! OMG! I loved this quilt but I didn't think it would even get a second glance at a quilt show.
Here are a few answers to the questions here: I'm not a Virgo but do have many of those personality traits. I have a mathematical mind and do have a lot of patience. I usually only work on one project at a time. I didn't make a ton of money when I sold it, although it was more than I spent making it, including the services of the long-arm quilter. But, I figured if I kept the quilt, I would store it in a closet for 10 years until the time came to give it to my child for a wedding present. Better to have somebody using it/ displaying it. How did I get the stripes to match? I tried to show examples using lined paper. First, you cut out a triangle out of the stripe fabric. Then you put that piece on top of the uncut fabric, rotated to match up. You cut a second triangle. The red line in the second photo shows where you would cut. Thank you again! equilateral triangle on lined paper smaller triangle lined up with first triangle |
