I'm already tired of darker winter colors so decided to brighten things up. I bought this top in an antique shop and added the borders, batting and backing. I then hand quilted it. Lots of quiltng on this. I believe it to be the Dolly Madison pattern printed in the Kansas City Star in about 1937. I love star pattern quilts.

You did a great job and I love the "vintage fabric"

Love the quilt pattern & the fabric - the "real deal" is much better than today's reproduction fabrics. You did a gorgeous job finishing it.

Beautiful!!

Thank you. I just happened to have some floral fabric that looked good for the border. It's not as old as the original fabrics but still looked good with it. The inner border is unbleached muslin. It is on a queen size bed and still has plenty of drape.

Very pretty and looks very springy. I'm not ready for Spring yet. Hot summer always follows and I'm not ready for that either. You did a great job.

Can't remember for sure but probably about 9 months or more. I don't work on it constantly. I'll think of a new top I want to piece or some other project and it will get slipped in between. That's why I have a stack of tops waiting to be quilted.

I'm sure I am from the looks of the forecast. Cold, in the 20's this weekend and chance of snow Sun & Mon. It's been in the 40's this week and I saw a robin a few days ago. Dark and dreary today. I'll just sit and look at my "springy' quilt.

retired2pa 01-07-2011 06:45 AM

Beautiful quilt and I'm with you....I'm ready for a more "springy" look in my house even though we had another 5" of snow last night and the forecast is cold and more snow :)
