Rusty, there are no secrets in making this quillow. It is made like a regular quilt, but has a fleece backing instead of batting (because that is what I had). I did a regular binding on the quilt part. The pocket is a pillow panel machine quilted to a backing and uses a polyester fluffy batting. A piece of fleece is then sewn to it using the "birthing" or "pillowcase" method with a little bit of quilting done after that through all layers and topstitching all around it. Then it is sewn onto the quilt. For me the biggest challenge with a quillow is getting the pocket placed on in such a way that when you fold, turn, and stuff the quilt in to make a pillow, the front side of the pocket shows. Ha!
