"Charming" Wedding Ring quilt

1 Attachment(s)
Pattern: Monet's Wedding Ring, by Judy Martin, from her book, Scraps. A charm quilt, with only a hot pink center repeat in the nine patches. Machine quilted by Julie McClannan of Bellevue, NE.

Really lovely! Think I am missing something here, how is this Monet's wedding ring? Feeling ignorant.

Quite a different take on a wedding ring quilt. Wonderful scrappy!

Maybe because it's kind of an "impressionist" view of a DWR?

Heather:
Most Wedding Ring quilts require curved piecing. Judy's technique used 2.5" squares. Because I made this a charm quilt, the "rings" got lost in being so busy. I won the battle of not doing curves, but lost the war because it there is too much variety so it is difficult to see the rings. Try this, and go to Google Images - "Monet's Wedding Ring" and you will see lots of examples of quilts that really worked. Paula

I have never seen this version of DWR, would you do another one using this pattern?

And I'm trying to figure out the nine patch. Love the quilt BTW.

Never mind. I did the image search and figured it out. It was easier to see with the quilt facing straight on.

This would be the only type of wedding ring I'd ever attempt. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Perhaps, but I would control the colors like a green and blue on a off white background. If you go to Judy Martin's website, there is a super one with a Mexican color theme. Spicy hot and cool, too.
