LOL yes, i used the wrong word. I was wondering if it is easy because you don't have to turn down the borders as you go. Like the border of the rose, its finished as you do the reverse applique?? So, you don't have to sew down the edges, because you use a stablalizer, and use different color threads to embelish? Es correcto??

Lisa,
You simply stick the stabliser on the back of your main fabric, stick to the back of your contrast fabric then pin this underneath, draw your design on top fabric (black), using carbon paper, stitch around the design, then cut away the middle!! Its great because you can use very flimsy fabrics and get really great effects!! You can do this several times, building up different colours within each other - I think!! lol :) :) |
Cool beans Izy!!! I'll have to put it on my list of things to try!!

and some more!!
I quilted 'inside' the flower petals and stalks, which has made the background 'pop' a truly reverse applique don't you think?? I have used a decorative butterfly stitch around the border.... not made my mind up if this is it, or do you think I should do some more to it?? Comments please :?: :) :) |
Fantastic! Has a South Sea Island look to it! What sort of thread do you use to do the stitching on top?
|
Well if you look really closely at the centre rose and the leaves surrounding it you will probably see that I have stitched it twice. I used machine embroidery rayon but it was too fine, and didn't show up too well. So I over sewn it with plain old cotton, which was quite thick!!
Thanks for your compliments |
