Though it makes me sad that few people can appreciate and value a quilt like that from a grandmother, I think the quilt is in the right hands now! It will be a treasure to you even though it wasn't your grandmother who made it.

Glad the quilt can get with someone who will treasure it. Being the sentimental fool that I am, I can't imagine how anyone could get rid of a beautiful quilt made by her grandmother!

i love it, but never heard of a summer quilt, makes me wonder how people can get rid of old quilts.

A gal ....probably mid 50's to 60 spoke up and said that was made by her grandmother on her "pedal" Singer machine. She also added that there was no stuffing in it because it was made as a summer quilt. Of course, I was already buying it...but the story to go with it made it even more fun to get. There is not even 1 hole in it and was kept nicely because it isn't very yellowed either. I think it was saved more than used. Anyways, I am very happy to be the new owner of this lovely piece.
