DH and I were antiquing yesterday and ran across this very old sewing machine. Last patent for it was 1845. Check out that foot pedal. It is in excellent shape. Beautiful cabinet. The back also opens up.

beautiful machine not at all like the modern ones LOL

look how close the foot pedals are. That would be uncomfortable. Glad they improved over the years.

Yes I think that is the name. They had a write up on it giving all the information. It was for $200.00......It is still there.....antique store in Aiken SC

Too far away for me, but that's a GREAT price!! Look at it...the leather straps on the pedals are still there...

~whimper~ That's quite a find!!

Most of the machines from this time period were intended for "commercial" fabric use by tailors and seamstresses. They were beyond the finances of the "normal" household.

Nice!! You didn't say if you bought it or not. I like the straps to keep your feet on the pedals

No I did not buy it....what I am wanting is a Singer treadle.

The machine looks like the one they used in the original LITTLE WOMEN with June Allison!
I wondered when I watched that show how she was sewing on it.

Saw one of these last summer at an estate sale here. Should have bought it. $200 sounds high to me.
