Chevron quilt for my son...
2 Attachment(s)
It's a surprise so don't tell him! The back is a flannel sheet that I bought on sale at Sears about three years ago. Quilting is edge to edge. Enjoy
How I made it: 1. It uses only two fabrics, a white and a stripe red, white, blue. 2. I cut 9 7/8th strips of each. 3. Take one strip of white, one of the r, w, b.*** a) Place them length wise good side to good side b) Sew a 1/4 inch seam along the length of both the top and the bottom of the strip lengths. This basically creates a long tube. ***One of my friends at guild said, "You can do that?" to step 3, which is why I am posting this. 4. Cut the tube at 9-7/8th intervals. When you are done, you will have 9-7/8th square with two sides already sewn. Sew a 1/4 inch seam on the remaining two sides. 5. Now carefully cut the square twice - diagonally from corner to corner. You now have 1/4 square triangles, ready to use. |
Chevrons have never been my favorites, but I so do love yours! It's bright and beautiful and I am sure your son will love it! And flannel backed, yeah! Great job!

I wasn't a fan of chevrons, either. But this was so easy to put together that it amazed me.

Very nice chevron pattern. Great idea to use a striped fabric. And I love the flannel back!
