Since I had the new flooring put down in the kitchen...I had to make a new wall hanging to cover up the ugly circuit box that is exposed...so of course....these chickens seemed to be calling out that they wanted to be a wall hanging rather than a quilt. So...whipped this up this weekend..finished binding it Mon. night.

It hangs next to a hutch with my G-G-Aunts everyday dishes..over 100 yrs. old

What a clever way to cover the box!! Great job!

grammy Dwynn 05-20-2009 05:44 AM

Nice job.
You reminded me that I need to make something to cover my electrical box. It's behind a door that stays open most of the time....but when closed...ewww it's ugly. Thanks for the reminder.... now I have another project TO DO.

Bevanger 05-20-2009 05:51 AM

Izy 05-20-2009 08:36 AM

Patti, what a great idea!! It goes perfect there, made to fit...of course!! :D

I was admiring the dishes in the cabinet, just as I scrolled down and saw how old they are, what a lovely heirloom :D

I wasn't overly struck on chicken fabrics...but have to admit they are GROWING on me...not literally, otherwise best see the Doc, but you get my drift....   I think it's the country charm feel this type of wallhanging has, that's appealing to me :D

barnbum 05-20-2009 09:20 AM

I have to warn you...its really difficult to get in.... You just have to jump in and start making chicken blocks!!! Then the fun begins! Come on!!

sandpat 05-20-2009 03:22 PM

Thanks for all the nice compliments...DH likes it, so thats what is important I think..

Izy...I just love the dishes..my Mom and Grandmother drove quite some distance to pick them up in person....years ago. Mother used to always serve the Thanksgiving turkey on that huge platter you see on top of the hutch. It hasn't had many turkeys on it since Mom passed away..but I still love to look at it. When I retired...DH had cooked me a fabulous dinner and had the table all set with these dishes for when I came home from work for the final time. It really made the day special.

What a clever and decorative way to display your chicken panels. I would hang that anywhere in my house! I LOVE country.
I visit this board and am just inspired over and over again by all the fine crafting/quilting/sewing/artisanship displayed in your creations. Your, sandpat, and the group on the whole.
It just makes me so hopeful and inspired to see how beautiful you all are making the world with your abilities.
Thank you for sharing <wave>

SandPat I will do that right after I finish the top for the quilt I am working on now and the table runner I still have to make for my DDIL and take with me to NY in July. LOL Actually I have Laural Burch's Crazy Cat material and was going to make a wall hanging from that so now I know where it will go. Thank you for your inspiration! Keep up the good work I love seeing it.

butterflyquilter 05-26-2009 01:39 PM

beautiful--wish my husband would let me cover ours up but he says in case of fire they need to find it--but--he did let me paint it to match the wall but you can still tellit is there!! oh well--this house is 109 years old this year!

sandpat 05-26-2009 04:15 PM

Well...at least you could paint it. You know...if we have a fire, if I can't put it out with flour quickly...I'm not hanging around to type flipping circuits..wouldn't matter if it wasn't an electrical fire anyway... I'm just gonna get the **ll out of Dodge! (Been there...done that...don't ever want to again!)

littlehud 05-26-2009 07:13 PM

So cute. Love your new chicks.

sandpat 05-27-2009 03:38 AM

Thanks hud!! :D

Your wall hanging is just adorable. Love your dishes. What a wonderful hubby to make your day so special. Seems to me we have quite a few women with sentimental dh on this board.
