These are gifts for our supper club. The scarves are for all the ladies. We give each other little presents. The table runner is for the dirty Santa exchange. We do one female and one male gift. The male gift we are giving is this cool back stratcher that was handcrafted by a member of the local craftmen's guild out of oak and a cast off deer antler. It's at my sister's house because I got one for my husband for his stocking and I don't want him to see it until the gifts are opened tomorrow night. That'll give him a week to pout that he didn't get one. The scarves were made from fleece that I cut and fringed the bottoms then monogrammed and affixed Swarovski crystals around the monogram. I found after the fringe was cut if I pulled on the fringe while running my fingernail down it they curled. It was purely by accident when I pulled on one. The table runner has a glittery button on each end tied with gold thread. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. It's late and I used my cell phone instead of going to fetch the camera. I enjoy seeing all the presents everyone has made. I hope everyone on the board has a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever seasonal holiday you celebrate.

Those are great.

Love the scarves, the fringe is really neat! Did you glue the crystals, and if so, what kind of glue? I never would have thought of animal print with Christmas, but it turned out very sharp. The buttons are a great extra touch.

Thank you......I think  Really though, they are wonderful and will be a great surprise for my friends!!! |
ADORE the table runner.

I just quilted a king size quilt that had the Santa with the animal skin. I had never seen it and it is really neat looking-who would have thought. The lady said she got it at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. The scarves are really nice, love the fringe-will try your accidental discovery myself. :)

I got the fabric at Hobby Lobby two days ago and it is 50% off! Both fabrics!
The crystals are Jolle's Jewels 4mm and 5mm Swarovski elements HOTFIX. You have to use the hotfix tool to adhere them but they STAY on. If the package doesn't say hotfix you have to use a glue and it is a pain. With the tool it heats up and they adhere to any fabric. I think you can get the tool at Michael's for around $10 for the no name and $19.99 for the Jolee's one but you could use a coupon. I got the crystals there too. There is a cheaper brand of the same thing but they aren't as nice the the true Swarovski ones. The color I used is the Crystal AB but they have all kinds of different colors. On the red scarf I used jet. |
How did you do the curly fringe?
|
It was by accident that I curled the fringe. I cut regular fringe with scissors. One got pulled taught when I stood up and it stretched out and curled up. So then I started pulling them and running my finger nail down it while I pulled and they curled up. I'd never seen fleece do that but when I pulled them taught and ran my nail down them while pulling they all curled.
