Christmas on Smith Morning Mountain

This has been languishing for awhile. Now that it’s done, I have no more excuses and will get my quilt done for our bed-it’s a king sized quilt, and I will be quilting on my DSM.
This pattern is Smith Mountain Morning, by Bonnie Hunter. Fabrics are scraps. Amazing what can come from a bin or two of tiny pieces! Haha. Held my breath while it was in the washer, but colorcatchers came out surprisingly clean! |
It is absolutely gorgeous. Really, really, beautiful.
Your quilt is so pretty!
oh so pretty
Good job putting all those scraps to work- it’s gorgeous!

Love it in the Christmas colors. Great job.

Beautiful! What a fantastic use of scraps! Her quilts do require tenacity.
Wow! That is beautiful!

Woozers. I saw it and immediately wanted to know the name of the pattern and there it is! A Bonnie Hunter pattern. Off I go to the my "To Do" list and enter Smith Mountain Morning. Thank you for catching our eyes with you beautiful version of this pattern.

Your Christmas colors work so well with this BH pattern - fabulous quilt!
Your top is gorgeous! Oh you do have wonderful scraps!!! My bin not so pretty....Looks like a tr-rec star block and a courthouse step block ,with a hourglass center. It made up beautifully.
Your quilt is beautiful.
A gorgeous scrappy. I have too many different colored scraps.
Very beautiful Christmas quilt
Love it!! Great colors. It’s on my bucket list.
What a beautiful quilt! I love the rich Christmas colors.
Beautiful quilt! Nice work.
The colors are so rich! Excellent in craftmanship and color. Beautiful.
It is beautiful! I can't believe you could quilt it on your DSM. You did a wonderful job.
Gorgeous finish!
I must say the scraps are gorgeous too! |

Great use of scraps & your finished quilt turned out lovely!
That's is stunning and so many pieces.
Wow, just love this. My first bed sized quilt was Bonnie's mystery from 2009 - Carolina Christmas. Tomorrow, a new, king size bed will arrive here - meaning none of my quilts are big enough! Talkin' Turkey is close, but I will need a new Christmas quilt. Did you adjust the size? Not many patterns for king size quilts. Yours is gorgeous. Cannot imagine quilting that on DSM! I hope you'll post a picture when it's finished.
Wow this is a winner. Very pretty and you use your scraps!

This is Heritage, be Sewn Wild Oak. |
https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/heart.gif Congratulations on creating this from your scraps! I think it would take me a lifetime to finish a quilt with so many tiny pieces. My comfort zone is baby and throw size quilts because I like to quilt my own quilts! I admire you for quilting this King size quilt on your DSM. Will you divide the quilt into 4 sections to quilt it, in order to keep the bulk of the quilt to the left of the needle?

Beautiful Christmas quilt and a wonderful pattern. Great finish.
Wonderful result. Would love to see it after it's quoted, too.

Both quilts are just stunning. I admire anyone who does a Bonnie Hunter and finishes it. She has marvelous patterns, but oh, so many pieces. I did my first one this year: Grassy Creek. I can't imagine the struggle of quilting on a DSM unless it is a cross hatch. I'm getting ready to Stitch in the Ditch on a 72" x 72" on my DSM prior to doing the FMQing on my Tiara, and I'm not looking forward to the tugging. Kuddos to you.
Such a wonderful quilt. Love that you got it all done.
Both of your quilts are master pieces. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous! You've done nice work!
Beautiful! I really like your choice of colors!
Jill, yet another winner by you! Your work is just amazing:)
Love your two color choice and the border adaptation is beautiful. It eases your eye and is simply beautiful with the main part of your quilt. You have inspired me!
I made that same quilt for a wedding quilt for my Son and his new wife.i did it in the blue and brown that Bonnie's quilt was in. The picture of it looked awesome as does yours. To see the actual quilt??? STUNNING.
