Christmas Table Runner (marathon runner)

1 Attachment(s)
This is the very first quilted thing I made, about 3 years ago. My dining table is 17 feet long, so this is a marathon runner. You can't really see, but on the green fabric portion, I used my embroidery machine and quilted a holly and berry pattern. It's very simple, but I was pretty happy with the fact that it came out straight!

wow that is very pretty

Quiltforme 12-05-2012 05:58 AM

Just beautiful!

KathyAire 12-05-2012 06:05 AM

The table runner is beautiful............. I'm sure glad that I don't have to cook for as many people that can fit at that table.

What a lovely table runner. That is one big table. Thanks for posting.

Donna 66 12-05-2012 06:36 AM

Love it--very elegant on this enormous table. It's kind of fun to picture two people eating, one at each end of the table. You'd have to have a runner to pass the food! Donna

Enjoy your family dinner

Beautiful table runner. When we have our monthly family birthday party I sure wish I had a dining room table like yours. I have people sitting all over the house.

RonieM 12-05-2012 07:15 AM

Looks great on such a big table.

BrendaK 12-05-2012 07:30 AM

This would look good on any table (shorter of course). Did you have a pattern? BrendaK

Jingle 12-05-2012 08:26 AM

Very pretty. I am glad my table is much, much shorter.

Your runner is so elegant on your beautiful dinning table. All I could think of is move the table out and put in a long arm machine:) Just kidding! Beautiful room!

It seats 18, I had 55 for dinner last Saturday. Still recovering.

Yes, we ring for the servants, but they never show up. ;-)

I actually do sew in here. My "sewing room" is actually a fabric storage facility.
BrendaK :"Did you have a pattern?"
No, I just did a strip of rail fence, then just a plain strip the same width. Then I used a 1" binding. Here's a close up:

I love your runner and would like a table like that when my family comes home!

kateyb 12-06-2012 06:17 AM

Very elegant and a great idea for such a big table. I thought my table at 9' was big. Your table x 6 would be perect for my large extended family when we get togehter.

BrendaK 12-06-2012 09:29 AM

Thanks for the close up. I have the background fabric and a couple of the other fabrics as well. I also used the fabrics in table runners, (they look pretty good even if I say so myself). The emb. on the runner is super. I am sure that you received a lot of complements on the way it looks. Thanks again for sharing. BrendaK

When I read the title of your thread,, I thought you made a Christmas runner for a Marathon Runner-person LOL! Now I get it. And the quilts hanging on the wall look interesting too...Are they seasonal?

The wall hangings are actually weavings done by a friend. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. The picture only shows parts of the last two.

WOW!! That's unbelievable! It's a stunning setting for a great family gathering.
