The striped fabric is little tiny presents. I matched my other fabrics with the colors in the presents. The backing matches the purple in one of the presents. Both fabrics were bought in two different places.

Everyone should try doing this Tube Method. It is a lot of fun.

could you tell me what size the finished 4 squares are when sewn together, as i was thinking of making hot pads for removing hot stuff from the oven?

Hello Siss,
The finished squares are about 10 inches.
Great idea using The Tube Method for Hot Pads.
I will have to try some myself.
Thank you.

That turned out great

Iluv2quilt 12-11-2009 06:10 AM

I just made a blue and white one - Yours looks great in red and green! The striped material really sets it off. Nice work!

I made a tube method mousepad cover using smaller dimensions than the 2 1/2" and 4 1/2" shown in the demo video. Came out very nice. Just have to have the larger piece equal the width of the two smaller strips AFTER they're sewn together.
It's SO helpful when pictures are posted and such fun to see what our quilting friends are making. Love this site!

rootyr 12-13-2009 05:09 AM

Oh so pretty.

ania755 12-13-2009 07:26 AM

 Very nice....and very useful

sewjoyce 12-13-2009 07:32 AM

Yesterday morning on my PBS station, Sewing With Nancy, had a demo on the tube blocks. She only used 2 colors and made one huge block, but the principle is the same. I was wondering how it would look to just sew all kinds of strips together and then cut them???

Hunnib 12-13-2009 07:38 AM

Oh, this is so Christmasy!

sheliab12 12-13-2009 03:05 PM

I need someone to tell me about this tube metheod. I must have missed it somewhere. I like what I see and would like to get rid of come scraps and this looks like it might work.

check out:
http://blog.missouriquiltco.com/2009...tally-tubular/

(you could probably just find it at

missouriquiltco.com

and then search on tube method)

The video has one dimension wrong -- all you need to remember is that the wider strip must be equal to the width of the two narrower strips AFTER they're sewn together.
