Christmas Table Runners
3 Attachment(s)
Every year, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the girls get together at my niece's house to eat all the leftover desserts. This year I made several table runners, had the girls pick straws, to see who goes first. Then everyone got to choose a table runner of their choice. It was fun and everyone loved it. I made so many that I gave my sister 3, she is very happy. She called me when she got home and told me she put all 3 out at various places in her home and told me how beautiful they are. I always try to back my table runners with a fabric of another season so they can be used twice.

I love the idea of getting together to eat all the desserts. Your table runners are wonderful and make thoughtful gifts.

How fun!! Productive too.
Great reversible runners!
Your table runners are amazing. They make such great gifts. This thread has motivated me to make a few christmas runners this week. Love them all. Also, great idea about the back fabric.
Great idea, it is a hard job, but someone has to eat all those deserts. LOL!
I also really like your runners. How pretty they are. |
very nice table runners and nice to be reverisble
What a great idea about the backing - makes it very versatile.
A double "yummy" day.....lots of leftover desserts and pretty runners to take home as a bonus.
What a nice thing you did. They are all such pretty table runners, but I am really partial to the snowball one. I like the idea of sewing a different one on the back so they can be used for another time.
They are lovely. If I had known you were giving these out I would have come for leftover desserts!
Sweet table runners, all ready for the holidays.
Very pretty runners! I do the same with two season table runners. Great job!
great runners and I'm laughing about you gathering to eat all the left over desserts! What a hoot!
I was just thinking about table runners when I found this on the quilting board. I like the idea of using a different fabric on back so the runner can be used another season. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
Very nice!

What a fun get together you have after Thanksgiving. I like each and every runner you made. I received a runner with Christmas fabric on one side and leaves on the other side. I Love that I can just flip it over and enjoy it for another season. So nice of you to gift your runners to your friends.
oh wow...really nice!!!
Lovely runners and I love the idea of making them reversible so they can be used at other times of the year.
They are all wonderful...love the idea of another season on the backing.
Those are wonderful...I am a beginner and I am trying to make small items like these. I love how you used fall fabric on one side...double the use!
Wow, you've been busy. All very nice and will make lovely gifts.

What a wonderful idea! I can see why they loved their gifts, all were lovely!

Very nice gifts and fantastic idea to get together to eat the left over desserts.
Love the runners. What is the average length of your runners? I love making runners but I have a tendency to make them long. Thanks for any infomation. BrendaK

What a wonderful idea. You table runners all look great.
Such a pretty assortment of runners! Fun idea for you all to get together too~
Love all those runners!

Thanks for all the praises from everyone, I don't have a actual size. I made them all different sizes because some use them on dining room tables and some use them on their coffee tables. I don't stress about sizes, I just make them up as I go along. No pattern, no particular size, no stresses, just easy, fun, quick sewing project. Its satisfying to make something from start to finish, and get it done in a short period of time. I hope my photos will inspire you to make some table runners for yourself or gifts as well. Happy Holidays to everyone on the board!

Thanks for idea about using different season on reverse side, never thought of doing that.
