Beautiful !! What is the pattern ?
Absolutely beautiful....wish it was mine!
That is beautiful. When you look at it in a certain way, it appears to be 3-D. The color contrast is really amazing. I love it. You did a fantastic job.
Would love to have this pattern. You did such a wonderful job!
Very pretty! Nice work!
That is gorgeous, I love your fabric choices.

Thanks all for the wonderful comments. The pattern came from the current edition of Fons And Porter- Love of Quilting.

I just got my magazine and looked at the item in it. Your topper is so much better looking than the one in the magazine. It's your choice of colors that make it come alive. One thing that I should point out to all of you that have been asking about the pattern----------it specifically says 'PROJECT RATING: CHALLENGING'. That leaves me out. |
WOW! Very pretty!!!
It's very pretty; you did a very good job!
I used to have that candy cane fabric so I know as good as it looks in the picture, it's even better in person. If you made it for you, enjoy using it. If it's a gift, lucky recipient. |
Thank you all sooo much...you really know how to make a gal feel good!!! I guess the fabs make it look so different than the one in the book. It really didn't appeal to me either. I was trying to duplicate the candy cane stripes with the red and white stripe sections. Honestly the pattern was not that challenging. if you can make log cabin you can do this. The directions are harder to understand than actually sewing them., and there is a mistake in the directions, or maybe a typo.

Stunning!
Wow, beautiful.
WOW-stunning!
WOW ... WOW ... WOW!!! It's stunning!!!
That is a beautiful topper the colors are so bold .

Me again! I'm floored over your table topper!!! Is this the one called "Christmas Memories" that is in the Fons and Porter Love of Quilting Nov/Dec issue? If it is YOU should sew their models!!! They wouldn't have enough ink or paper to keep up the demand for their magazine if they showed what you can do with a pattern!!!
very pretty! looks 3-D
beautiful...

That is STUNNING - the black makes it POP
Will you send a picture to F&P? Maybe they'll include it in a future issue. I think with table runners - the choice of fabric is the #1 decision that makes a great runner. #2 is the pattern |
Now that is a vert stunnning and unique table topper. You said it was easy and quick. Wow!!
WOW!!! Super!
Really festive and pretty.
I am not a table runner fan but I think yours may push me into it. It's really nice and you did a great job with the colors.
very very pretty nice job

They were making this topper on today's Fon's & Porter show and now that I have seen how it is made using the log cabin technique I can make one. I have not been able to locate the magazine that it is in tho. We don't have very many places here to buy magazines unless it is McCalls or some such mag. I have never seen the Fon's & Porter any where. I may try Joanns next week. I do have a topper very similar to this in the quilt frame that I bought at the Goodwill and maybe I can use it as a model. I do think your's is prettier than the one on the show today.( 11-27-2010 ) Huggies, Fay

Thank you Fay. Joanns probably will have the magazine.

I made this for a Christmas gift & am not sure how I want to quilt it either. I'm not very experienced with quilting beyond stitch in ditch so I may do that. Mine is not Christmas fabric. I'll be interested in how you quilt it.

I bought a christmas table cloth and used it for the backing. I have stitched in the ditch all of the log cabin/star sections. Im trying to figure out what to do in the larger outer star sections.

Wow ... it is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
