Joyce those all are beautiful  Can I pick your brain for a minute or two ? Do you put stabilizer both on top and bottom of the towel ? What kind of stabilizer do you use ? Thanks for your help

On the back of the towel, I use a tear away-wash away. On the front I use the thinnest wash away I can find. :D

sharon b 12-23-2009 01:00 PM

Thank You ! I have printed this out for later use
On the back do you use two layers or is there a kind that is both tear/wash away ? Sorry to be so difficult :?

quiltnut4ever 12-23-2009 02:15 PM

They all are beautiful. I especially like the breast cancer pink ribbon.

You're NOT being difficult. The brand I use is called "Wash Away Tear Away" and is from the Marathon Thread Co. (www.marathonthread.com). I use one layer on the towels which seems to do the job. Their thread is also nice.

The wash away I've been using on the top is Solvy - Medium Weight. (I bought a whole big roll by mistake -- this stuff does NOT work well when making free standing lace!)

The towels are just beautiful! I really need to use my embrodiery machine, I did at first when I first got it and loved it, but then got busy and haven't looked at it since. I vowed I would start on Christmas projects early in January and work thru Nobember!

Thank you for the compliment :D

That's a great idea of starting now for next Christmas -- think that we would get finished with all the stuff then???

sandpat 12-26-2009 06:34 AM

Great job on those! I gave towels last year...this year I didn't and all my friends asked where they were...so I guess I know what I have to do next year... :D

deedum 12-26-2009 10:38 AM

That is my plan, everything I do in the sewing room or most things will be geared towards Christmas gifts for 2010

I think maybe we could make a post to see each month how we are doing, what do you think

Bevanger 12-26-2009 10:58 AM

wash cloths, hand towels, dish cloths, and so on. and yes materila can be used, I haven't tried a quilted piece yet on the towels. Mary

The emblibrary also has some really good project that will help with all your question on how to do towels or tee. plus what stablizers to use
