Christmas Tree Skirt or Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I'm almost finished with this tree skirt and thought to myself "wow that's going to be huge" because I still have a border to put on..So I was thinking of changing it to a Christmas Quilt. If I do would anyone know how I should square it up? Any help would be appreciated..

This one might look better.. Thanks for looking.

I would leave it just as it is and make it a quilt. It is absolutely beautiful.

JuneBillie 11-16-2015 02:55 PM

It is so beautiful.

sewingsuz 11-16-2015 02:58 PM

It is very beautiful. Just leave it the shape is is.

PaperPrincess 11-16-2015 03:19 PM

Very pretty. Not sure where you need to square it up? I would just even up the last green round, and if you have enough fabric and bind it in that same dark green, you won't notice any unevenness.

Two sides are straight and you would add triangles to the 4 sides to make it a rectangle. Pretty Diamond Log Cabin!

erindipity 11-16-2015 03:45 PM

This is gorgeous! I love the shape of it. Maybe use it for a table cloth? Or send it to me! :D lol Just kidding. Great work.

Didn't Dunster have a pattern for the Diamond Log Cabin? That might help you with your quest.

Cheshirecatquilter 11-16-2015 04:35 PM

The four triangles you need to make square corners on this quilt measure 30/60/90. To get two outer edges for your quilt without a bias edge, measure from a line along the grain to make a 30 degree angle, and extend the triangle out long enough to make a seam across two of your diamonds, with the bias edge sewn to the diamonds. Two of these big triangles should be placed so their skinny end points, the 30 degree angle, meet at the point of one of your outer diamonds. Mirror this on the opposite side of your quilt, and you should end up with a rectangle.

Yeah, me too!

You could square it up, but it would make a fine table topper as is.

I wouldn't worry about squaring it up. Just get it quilted in time for putting under the tree.

Awesome. BrendaK

I knew there was a reason I should have been more attentive in geometry class! LOL You quilters really step up to the plate when someone needs help. I love this place.

quilterpurpledog 11-18-2015 05:00 AM

Love the shape of the diamond shape. I would leave it the way it is. It will look nice on your table (or floor) the way it is. If you want to minimize the size you can skip the border and just bind it. It is really beautiful.

Karamarie 11-18-2015 05:10 AM

Beautiful! I would hang that one on a wall or hang over a railing.

BettyGee 11-18-2015 06:04 AM

Thanks for sharing. It is absolutely gorgeous.

BCM 11-18-2015 06:55 AM

It is so lovely. I agree with members who say leave as is--if you're happy with that.

csknott 11-18-2015 08:23 AM

I agree. Leave as is. I see wall hanging.

annette1952 11-18-2015 09:29 AM

It is gorgeous! You could use it for a wall hanging just the way it is or a topper for a table

JoyjoyMarie 11-18-2015 09:38 AM

What a terrific look - I wouldn't hide it under a tree!

IBQUILTIN 11-18-2015 11:51 AM

Very pretty

labtechkty 11-18-2015 01:12 PM

It's gorgeous!

nannyrick 11-18-2015 05:57 PM

That is gorgeous!!! I think you could use it as it is.

northern lass 11-19-2015 10:43 AM

Absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't do a thing to it

fish92241 12-13-2015 10:53 AM

It is lovely and will make a gorgeous quilt. I would add triangles since two sides are straight. Good luck.
