Back in January I saw the following post and decide to make my son a Christmas Tree Wallhanging for his apartment, too.

Here is the original post:
http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-86059-1.htm
reference to instructions is on page 5, 4th reply down by copehome.

I added an extra row at the bottom to add the tree trunk, and lengthened the side borders accordingly.

This is only the third quilting project I have ever done. I enjoyed making it and hope you like it.

Love it - going to bookmark it -

While reorganizing my fabric, I came across a bunch of Christmas scraps that would be perfect for this project...and even make a great hostess gift for someone who hosts the annual party.

Thanks a bunch!

Your quilt is wonderful! Love the ornament one--top right corner. Lots of inspiration on that quilt.

Been off line for a while. Thanks quiltinghere for giving the direct link.
Thanks, also, to everyone for your kind comments. Looks like we'll be seeing more of these wall hangings soon!

This is really cute. and gave me a great idea. I have a door at the end of a dark hall. I think I will make one to cover the door completely for the holidays. That should dress it up some. Thanks for the inspiration. :)

Thanks so much. I was inspired by an antique wall hanging with only a single tree I saw at an antique shop. I was just starting to quilt so I saw that it didn't have any half triangle, which at that time I hadn't tried yet, so I thought I can do that.

You're welcome - it was easy to post the direct link.

Maybe should start a BOM for this pattern and we'll all have at lease 4 done (July, Aug, Sept, Oct,) - and get them quilted up in November
Wouldn't that be great!

(I really need to stop thinking of new projects to do)

This is so cute. I like the way you added the other row with the tree trunk. This will go perfect in my family room. Thanks for sharing. Smiles!

We gave our son the wall hanging during his visit last week. He really liked it. A couple of days after he had it, he mentioned he might "change it a little." I asked him what he meant; and he said he wanted to add lights to it! So I guess he really did like it.

Looking forward to seeing more of these as the year goes by.

debcavan 07-06-2011 04:06 AM

It is really cute. He will enjoy it.

I HOPE he doesn't cut into the wallhanging to put the lights in through the back
