Civil War Rags quilt
2 Attachment(s)
Just finished this quilt in honor of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and my CW veteran ancestors Virgil Weeks and Abram Prentiss, sergeants in the Union Army. It is a combination of recycled denim and CW reproduction prints. It is reversible.
I named it Civil War Rags. I picked the prints to represent the "good times" before the war. I selected denim to represent the hard work and times families experienced while their husband/father was away at war. In the center or each 9patch sq is a wooden and brass button. The button is there to represent the shiny uniform buttons of the soldiers when the entered service. I chose to make a rag style quilt because it represented how the lives of individuals, families and the country were torn apart by the war. |
Very, Very Nice. and that you remembered the past so well.

Beautiful, I love it! Your reasons behind all of the special touches are a tribute to hard and good times. Much thought must of gone in the reasons.
