Comfort Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
My sister from Oregon came in September and we made comfort quilts for her family. 6 of them. From her decesed mother. We started one for her, as well, and I am finishing it and this is how for I got this weekend. Couldn't wait to share. The center block is a special PJ and the strips are from some of her shirts. I used some pink/white breast cancer awareness fabric that I had in my stash to sash it. I still have to put a boarder around it out of the same material. Not sure what next, maybe she will weigh in here and tell me what shr wants. She cut the blocks and strips while she was here, but the material was so stretchy that it was hard to work with. So I cut 10.5 squares from muslin and did the sew and flip method for the blocks. First time I used that technique. I am going to do some scrappy that way, I think. Anyway, here it is.

Very nice! I really like the pink/white fabrics.

Nice happy colours .....

What a nice idea and rememberance of her mother. I especially like the quote from Onalee Rose. Amazingly, when you get away from all of the 'drama' people, your life calms down and you can think clearly and breathe again.
May your new year be blessed and prosperous. |
nice job . love the pink.

Hi sis!
The quilt is Beautiful! I am going to use it on my queen size bed so I would just make sure it's big enough to cover the bed and not so big that I have to add to the back? The Just a note for the rest of you quilters, we did NOT make the quilt out of my deceased mother, we made it from her clothes! lol It was such a wonderful 4 days with my sister and I have a new hobby! Working on getting a space set up to sew but for now I'm sewing on top of my washing machine! Working on 3 quilts! |
nicely done.
