Here is a strip pieced quilt I made for a friend who is starting chemo. The blue strip is the middle with red strip on each side and a light blue triangle corner. I set it together using a suggestion found on the QB for making self sashing by making the strip down the middle all one color.

Actually the quilt is for my daughter's brother in law. I love him like he was family as I do all of her in-laws. He's tall & that's why I made it so long. Used high loft batting and the back is fleece. That's why I tied it. He said both his daughters, (twins in college) and his wife have a quilt and now he has one too.

Your friend will be delighted with the quilt and all the love that went into the making of it.

He started out with colon cancer and it was removed just before Christmas. But it has spread to some lymph nodes. The survival rate for that kind of cancer is 5 years. He had a very bad reaction to the chemo. It restricted the blood flow to his heart and it felt like a heart attack. Supposed to take another treatment on Monday in the hospital. Gave his testimony in our church and he says he's excited to think that he might be face to face with his Lord within 5 years. He has complete peace about his condition. Not that he wants to die but he's ready.
