Comic Book Collector's Quilt

5 Attachment(s)
My BIL has collected comic books from the time he was a small lad. His collection has grown from the 1940's throughout his life. He loves all things space as you will see by the pictures. It all started with me finding the Buck Roger's duvet cover on eBay using it as the backing and asking for copies of 12 of his most prized comic book covers. No easy task for him to narrow it down to 12.

Because I've not had good success with ink jet copies...which fade with time even if not in direct sunlight. I'd read that there is a new process called digital transfers of images onto fabric that will never fade. This process has dyes especially made to impregnate the fibers of the fabric it's being put on the heat process to set those dyes far surpasses our home irons.

I've never posted one of my quilts here as with all the wonderful quilt makers here I do fell a bit intimidated....but my friend
BellaBoo really encouraged me to step off the lily pad and post this.

The label has some of the personal information blocked out, I hope you will understand, it's that internet thing :0) The label was created by another of my board friends, our own
SewnSewer2....she does fabulous creative work and turns the labels around very fast. You'll notice that at the top right of the label there is a QR code sticker it allowed us to record a video message of the history of this quilt all that my BIL had to do was either use a smart phone, tablet to click on the patch or go to the website with his computer and input the code letters and see the video recording....How cool is that? Stkrit.com offers two types one iron on and one that sews on....for this quilt I used the sew on type.

Awww, your label made me cry.....I am sure Guy teared up too. That is amazing! I am so glad you stepped off the "lilly pad" and posted this amazing creation. I did not know about the digital transfers onto fabric....so see you taught me something (not that that's a hard task!). Thank you so much for sharing!!!

What a cool quilt! I love the recorded message upc. It is so spacey and fits this quilt subject to a tea.
