Wow! What a difference -- good job!

I would like to know the pattern name of the second one I like that one.
the second quilt is just beautiful .It may have been a lot of work taking it apart but boybboy did it turn out great.See there was a reason you couldn't make it work :-D :-D
Your final design is absolutely brilliant! And gorgeous, love it! Those fabrics have such busy patterns that in the first design they were all screaming at each other - chaos! Putting the white between them to give the eyes somewhere to rest was the perfect solution. Good job!
I just love your finished quilt! Love the design!
I'm sure that has happened to all of us. I agree, the first one just seems too busy but that second one is a winner. Great job. I bet DD loves it. Thanks for sharing.
I love your alternative. That turned out perfect. Just the way it should be....Wonderful job!!!
Your final design is awesome.
You are so right! I like the way you got it finished and not the original way. Pretty quilt.
I like your final design much better. It's more pleasing to the eye.

Thank you all for your wonderful affirmations! I was feeling kind of like the 'bad quilter of the year' until I finally figured it out. The main requirement for the second design was that it had to use the squares I had already cut for the Turning Twenty, because I didn't have a lot of the different cherry fabrics to use.
The design is called "Newport Beach", found in a Judy Martin book named 'Scraps'. It's the quilt on the cover, in the top right corner. Instead of going with a true shadow design, I used what I had - the solid red. Here's the link in case anyone is interested. http://www.amazon.com/Scraps-Judy-Ma...0776935&sr=8-1 |
LOVE LOVE your final design! I am sure it was a lot of work tearing apart the other but it looks BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing
Two totally different looks. The first one looks so busy and I can see how it just didn't work for you. But the second one is so lovely. It's restful and wonderful. Good that you went with your gut feeling and make the change. You weren't afraid to go outside the box and you came up with a fabulous quilt. Good job.
The first was way too busy, but I love the final version! Great job.
What pattern is the final version? I like that one a lot.
Never made a turning 20 quilt, but agree with you. The final one is lovely
& grabs the eye. |
Your final design is wonderful. I like it a lot.
Was worth redoing. Now it is beautiful.
Thanks for the link. You found a creative solution. Again I say....great save!!
You did a great job. Your new design shows off the cherry fabrics so much better!
Thumbs up on the final without a doubt!
Your final design is just beautiful.
Love it!!! Your completed design is much more eye pleasing than the turning twenty.
OOOhhhh, good change! I love the redesign!
The second choice is definitely the Bomb
Love your final one! Frustrating when you finish a quilt & know it isn't right but what a beautiful save.
I really like the final design better. It showcases the cherry fabric instead of being all mixed together like fruit salad!!
Great job. |
Oh my goodness, Love that quilt, you did a fantastic job.

The first design didn't work that well but WOW the final design is awesome. Hope your daughter loves it.
I love your final design! What a difference!
I like your final design. Also like the white with prints.
Very nice. |
I love the remake. I also have never been able to see what people see in the turning twenty quilt. I just do not get it. But love you remake.
The final outcome was certainly worth the hard work...Beautiful quilt.
Your final design is beautiful.
You did a terrific job - I LOVE the final design... Isn't that what "creating" is all about - putting our own touch on a quilt. YAY for you!
To be honest - I have never really LIKED Turning Twenty (although there are many lovely ones here!) Somehow there just doesn't seem to be a pattern. My brain just doesn't wrap around it. Looks like a bunch of fabric sewn together with no thot (maybe thats the way it is SUPPOSED to be!?) lol! Your finished quilt is perfect and what a beautiful job you did. Be proud of it - we have all had that "UH OH!" moment when we don't like what we are making.
You are one smart gal. Stick with your gut feelings. The final design is beautiful!!!!
Sorry you had to do all that 'ripping' but your final design is the best, really love the crisp clean design of white background and the cherry blocks.
Awesome! warm quilt hugs, sue in CA |
Oh I can't help but ask. ...... what did you do with all those extra fabrics after the redesign?
