The secret to not having the fabric move is to pin using the flower head pins. And I only use a length of fabric that is about 18" wide so I am not working with the whole width at once. Cutting is the hardest part of the quilt but once you do it even that is not so hard!

Yes I always cut only half of the fabric widthwise also. I don't pin I sew several little stitches in spots throughout the fabric. Then I don't have to worry about running over the pins with my rotary cutter. I usually have a stitch in most of the stacks so they don't get mixed up. Takes a little longer to match repeats but I am very pleased with the extra time when the pieces are sewed.

These are beautiful. I experimented with some old fabric, just in case I hated it. And now I'm working on a lap quilt, with that fabric. These are such fun and you did a gorgeous job.

They are beautiful. Just ordered two books and have put this on my wish list of things to do. Is it very difficult to get all the layers pinned exact?

I take a sewing needle with double thread and sew my repeats together in several places. I pinned once and had to keep moving them to cut. Decided I did want to keep moving the pins so now I stitch. I like it much better than pinning. I have better luck with my centers matching doing it this way.
