Well done you!!!

SillySusan 04-19-2018 02:57 AM

This is so wonderful! I love it.

I have several old rolls of adding machine tape from my tax-preparing job years ago. I'm digging them out right now. (They were saved with the, "They might come in handy some day" reasoning.)

Your quilt is beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

SusieQOH 04-19-2018 03:13 AM

That's beautiful!!! Just think- with all your scraps you could probably make a hundred of them haha!

sinceresissy 04-19-2018 03:26 AM

Wonderful scrappy. Very eye catching. It works!

palmetto girl 04-19-2018 04:32 AM

Who needs to buy fabric when you made such a beautiful quilt from scraps. I love it.

luvstoquilt 04-19-2018 04:33 AM

Be careful! Scrappy quilts are addictive! Lol and scraps have a way of multiplying!

Lena1952 04-19-2018 05:26 AM

It is my understanding that if you spay/neuter newly purchased fabrics before bringing them home they will not turned into little scraps. Please notice I said it is my understanding. Since I have not remembered to neuter my fabrics there are scraps multiplying as I write! This quilt gives me hope for many of those rascals. Instead of scraps they are like little pieces of art just waiting to come together in one gorgeous quilt! Great work!

Sew Freak 04-19-2018 05:31 AM

lots of 'pop' in this quilt....luv it!!!!

rosiewell 04-19-2018 07:06 AM

it came out great, I love the black border on the blocks, it really makes the colors pop and the scrap border with the black posts finishes the quilt beautifully

Innov8R 04-19-2018 07:20 AM

That's a scrappy anyone would love!

maviskw 04-19-2018 07:52 AM

Love it! What a nice way use up some scraps.

leighway 04-19-2018 08:17 AM

You've got a stunning quilt there...wondering how you're going to quilt it? It could take straight lines or diamond patterns and be a contemporary Wow! Let us know what you do, ok?

Mariah 04-19-2018 11:13 AM

Great job; love it! I have been told that our scraps reproduce at night. There are times I feel certain this is true!

This quilt is absolutely fabulous!

Jules51 04-19-2018 04:02 PM

Awesome scrappy quilt! Love the use of the black and white to bring out your squares!

Great idea!
I don't pre-wash my fabric.
But this spay/neuter thing ... you might be onto something!
I'm gonna tell everyone!!

Ha!

I don't think I even made a dent in the scrap pile! What's up with that!?!

I did not use any foundation for the blocks; however, I had some old adding machine tape laying around and used it to sew pieces for the border. That was a huge help when it came time to trimming since I didn't have to worry about measuring! The adding machine tape was already 2-inches.

I used my Hanging Gardens pattern (from Cozy Quilt Designs) for the layout. I had to do some math (ouch) for the setting triangles since my 7-inch scrappy blocks were smaller than what the pattern calls for.

I really, really enjoyed sewing all the bits 'n pieces together to make the blocks. It was very relaxing sewing. I ended up making about 50 blocks very quickly. Just a bit disheartening to make that many blocks and look down at the pile of scrap and realize that there is just as much scrap fabric as when I started . . . maybe more!

Very nice. You did such a great job with the block accents and connecting Irish Chain look. I really like it. I do understand about scraps multiplying. Fortunately, my group supplies pillows to a surgeon for breast cancer patients every month...Great way to use scrap pieces and they look beautiful as well.

Prettiest scrap quilt I've ever seen. Oh yes, scraps are alive and the breed and multiply all night, every night.....so, I guess you will just have to make more of these lovely quilts. Thanks for sharing. Love it.

julybaby8 04-20-2018 11:44 AM

Love what you’ve done with the black. Looks great.

Barb2018 04-20-2018 11:48 AM

I really admire people who can look at a tub of scraps and come up with something so gorgeous. I look at my scraps and see......scraps.

Iraxy 04-20-2018 12:15 PM

I never thought about doing something like that and am quite enthused about trying it out. Thanks!

jmoore 04-20-2018 12:22 PM

The colorful border finishes it off nicely...great job.

sewnclog 04-20-2018 01:00 PM

I do like that quilt; I like scrappies and I think I have the Hanging Gardens pattern; I might have to haul my box of scraps out and try that. Very pretty quilt.

Beautiful scrappy! With the sun shining through the quilt top, it looks like stained glass. So lovely.

Jordan 04-21-2018 01:32 PM

Very pretty scrappy and love how you used the pattern. I think our scraps multiply while we sleep!!

mrs theo 04-22-2018 04:09 AM

I'm not a big fan of scrappy, but you've changed that with this beauty!!! To me, it doesn't even look scrappy with the way you've tied everything together with the black & white. What a beautiful quilt!!!

Geri B 04-22-2018 05:33 AM

Great idea! I really like that pattern...think I'll order it and do what you did. Those 'scraps' now sparkle!

Chytayzie 04-22-2018 07:18 AM

Beautiful design. Love how the blocks pop.

Stevensgirl 04-22-2018 10:41 AM

Love it! The black accents really add to its beauty.
