had a friend ask for these so I made them up for her. I hope her son likes them!

4EVERquilt 04-19-2011 05:18 PM

He will like them.

RedGarnet222 04-19-2011 05:35 PM

Nice bags! Are they felt? I double covered the cotton ones I made and they still have to have a stitch or two once in a while. "~(

Quilting Fran 04-19-2011 05:39 PM

I have made those also. I used duck cloth.

sewgull 04-19-2011 05:59 PM

sewingsuz 04-19-2011 06:34 PM

It is a bag you put in the microwave and heat up and use for therapy. I call them ackie brakies.

SundarKoyal 04-19-2011 06:37 PM

Ohhhh, I have something like that, that I got from the chiropracter's office. But I do not think they were called that here.

happyscrappy 04-19-2011 06:43 PM

rushdoggie 04-19-2011 06:46 PM

Wow...corn hole bag sounds kind of, umm, bad! lol...

They look great!

NikkiLu 04-19-2011 06:49 PM

NO - NO - not to put in the microwave - these are made for a game that you play outside - you throw them - kind of like horseshoes - but you throw them on a wooden board thingy with a hole in it - and get points if it goes into the hole or how close it gets to the hole, etc.

There are other kinds of bags with corn, rice, beans, etc. in them that you put in the microwave for aches and pains.

HTH

Yes it's actually a bean bag game that you drink & play with a big group of friends. Kinda like washers but corn hole is popular around here & has taken the place of washers. It has 2 boards with a hole about the size of the bag & there are points scored for closest & for those that make it in. Board is real slick white enamel painted about 3 times so there are no rough spots. It's a game that can be played inside or out depending on if you have a basement & how much you trust your friends once they are drinking! The bags are made from duck cloth, all seams are double stitched & stuffed with corn.

My cousins in Kentucky introduced me to this game. It's pretty big where they are. I'd put it in the same category as horseshoes.

BTW, great corn hole bags, Izaquilter!

Great game and lots of fun for all ages. Very popular in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and probably a lot of other places. Our family plays in NY. Of course we learned from family in Indiana. We always take it on vacation to the Outer Banks with us. Every one loves playing.

SundarKoyal 04-19-2011 07:55 PM

Lolll! Geez, I have even played this game before when I lived in Michigan, but never knew that was what it was called. Either way, the little corn bags with the SIU on them look really really nice.

SWChick 04-19-2011 08:19 PM

If it is for a gamebbi guess corn is good but for heat therpy I will take rice anytime. Have you ever tried laying on corn.

sandilee 04-19-2011 08:59 PM

They look great, Iza! The SIU symbolizes the local university here....southern Illinois University!

Jammin' Jane 04-19-2011 09:23 PM

We've got that game at the lake and we wear the bags out every summer. Never heard it called that before. We just call it the bean bag game.
Nice job on your bags! I like how you customized them!

cmathena 04-20-2011 07:41 AM

We are going to a party at mt dd this week end we are paying that game. i had never heard of it

buckeyed 04-20-2011 07:57 AM

In Ohio corn bags are used in a game which is similar to a bean bag toss.

Buckeye Rose 04-20-2011 08:25 AM

roflmbo.....I knew as soon as I saw what was posted that there would be some who were clueless. But leave it to us country folks to give the game a "not so appropriate" name!

QuiltnCowgirl 04-20-2011 08:29 AM

So...if you fill them with corn...it's corn hole? If you fill them with beans...it's bean bag? Did I get it right?

Quilting Fran 04-20-2011 05:22 PM

corn hole bags are for game. You have the wood objects with a round hole in the end. You throw the bags, trying to throw them through the hole. So many points if you do and some points if you come close. <My son has made the wood, part and then I made bags for him. You have eight bags, four of one color and four of another. Hope I explained if to some degree.
