Hello
Here is a sample of my projects from Camp Cotton. It is a lot of fun making these completely reversible projects. Everyone is completely reversible even the bag! Taking your time to quilt the blocks and rectangles is sooooo relaxing. I have just finished another couple of projects but need to take pictures. WOW!! Those are awesome!! Please show us more!

Hello
Thank you. Yes, I will show you more and give you all inspiration!!Enjoy. |
Very nice projects.
But, now I'm all squinty-eyed from trying to see them, since there's so much great detail. |
Dumb question time....What is Cotton Theory?
|
Very nice work. I second-what is Cotton Theory? Never heard of it.
BZang-If you are unaware of this little trick, you can hold down the CTRL button and use your mouse scroll button to make your screen zoom in or out. I don't think this is just for Windows 2007, but I may be wrong. Cut's down on the squinting. |
Betty Cotton Theory is fun to do.
She Betty did seminar in our area, and I have bought 2 of her books. My SIL also wahted the books, and we want to do the bath rug. It is a way to quilt as you go and when all is sewn together all you have to do is the binding and you are done... so you are only quilting one small piece at a time... ConnieF |
How is this different from Lapquilting by Georgia Bonesteel?
|
Very nice projects!! Doesn't this technique use a lot more fabric than the typical QAYG? (Especially if you're doing a full size quilt!)
|
If it uses more fabric, I need to make lots of them and use up my fabrics so I could buy some more WHOOO HOOO. I do have a book and video or CD and I do plan to make some quilts using her method.

Mrs. C T.
Are these projects from the first or second book? |
Hello Atlanta
These projects are all from Book Number 1. Real easy once you get into the folds. When you are done you are done. |
Hello
I would not say this type of quilting uses more fabric. If anything you can use scraps, as you are coordinating squares and rectangles into your project, quilting them as you go. I always recommend doing the placemat as their first project and doing it with scraps, to get the idea of the procedure. |
Hello
I will need to check out Georgia Steel and her technique. As I am not familiar with her way. |
It's Georgia Bonesteel.. she was one of the original lapqilting gurus if not The first. She was there at the beginning of quilt as you go. For us oldies a familiar name.
She still has some quilting shows on TV. Nice to have you with us Ms. CT. |
WONDERFUL!!!!
|
I love the cotton theory projects! Do you think it's possible to learn from the book? The camp looks amazing too. Thanks. Can't wait to see more!
|
Hello
Yes, it is all possible to learn this technique from the book. I am surprised you have not a trip to Camp Cotton as you are soo close, I am jealous. Betty is very informative and it is just wonderful going there. |
wow, so nice
|
Hey Suzie
Have you checked out Cotton Theory instructors in Texas as I think this is your nearest state? |
Those are so cool. Great job.
|
Those pieces are so pretty and look perfect! Thanks for posting. Just love the bag!
|
I just saw Cotton Theory quilts at the AQS quilt show in Lancaster. They took my breath away. The one that was hanging looked like it was embroidered from a distance. Absolutely gorgeous !!! When you got up close you realized it was all in this cotton theory method and beautiful stitiches on you machine. I decided right then and there to start saving to get to a camp.
I can't wait to see more of your pictures. Great work!!! |
Wow! Those are beautiful. Lovely fabrics too.
I'll take a look for those books, as I'd definitely like to have a go. Thanks |

I have the supplies to do a bath rug for over two years. can't seem to get to it. Keep inspiring...
|
Beautiful work.

I had asked around at LQS and I was told in order to teach a class the instructor needed special training. So noone has classes. Is this correct? I bought your video and patterns back in November in 2004 in Texas. Please let us know how to be able to take classes and clear up this confusion.
Your work is lovely  |

It is very eye catching. Not sure how to describe it, but I do really like how it looks, I have half of my blocks sewn, it takes time for sure, but the end result is good or hope mine will be.
