Couched Monsters
5 Attachment(s)
Each monster was made with fabric scraps and individually raw edge appliqued on my longarm and subsequently couched with various bits of yarn. Then framed in a monster/alien/space themed fabric with an added small flanged white border for additional contrast. Each monster was of an unplanned size, so I used a heck of a lot of solid coping strips, also in scrappy fashion, to make everything fit together well. It was certainly a puzzle to figure out! Once sandwiched, each monster received its own background fill. I started the project in 2019. Happy to have it done. Final size is about 80x90. Thanks for looking.

Your quilt brings a smile to me. This is why a site like QB is so great. We can share and encourage each other to try something different. Thanks for explaining your process with us. Good job!

Quite the process, but wow, a wonderful result. Looks like a ton of joyful work and hope these monsters make an appearance at your home on a daily basis. I would never be able to part with it.

Oh dear... These are the most darling monsters I have ever seen! I have an alien blocks one in the works and I just bought another pattern by amy bradley to make. I just can't help myself. I just Love them. I hope the people at the diabetes auction love them too.

What a wonderfully imaginative quilt. If all those monsters once lived in your brain, it is certainly a creative space!
