All the fabrics are batiks. I think the multi color batik is a Hoffman but I am not sure on that. It has a mixture of green, blue, lavender and just a touch of yellow. It was screaming "Iris" to me the minute I saw it. The lavender, green and blue are Hoffman 1885 batiks in the solid colors. I embroideried on the solid batiks using the multi color for the focus fabric. I plan to hand quilt it with just a little quilting on it. I think too much quilting will take away from it rather than accent it. Sometimes, the rule of "less is more" is the only one to follow. It took me about 6 months to embroidery and piece it together. I did a lot of unsewing and adjustments to get everything to fit. It was a real chalenge but it was fun to make. I didn't write down any directions as I did it and I don't think I could go back and get it right. I just made it up as I went along. If I didn't like something or it didn't fit in that particular place, I ripped it out and put it some where else. I have it hanging on my design wall and I an enjoying looking at it....and that it finished! Thanks for the compliment from everyone.

PS: The Embroidery is from a Cactus Punch Lite CD called Iris Border. I just put several designs together to form the design on each block. Then I embroideried the design on each of the three solid batiks. I was amazed at how different the blocks looks with different color background fabrics. I have a Pfaff 2144 machine and I am still learning what I can do with it. I also sew better than I type. hahaha!
