My sister is a member on here, but she is unable to post her pictures. Here is a Crazy Scrappy Quilt she made for me for my 50th birthday. She goes by Sew and Sew and her name is Cheryl from Tennessee. I hope this works Cheryl. I love this quilt. She taught me how to make one as well..Now, I am hooked on sewing quilts.

Your sister did a beautiful job. So glad you've become hooked on quilting and have joined us. Welcome from NE CA. Don't forget to show us your pictures. Isn't quilting wonderful?

Beautiful.

angieagmw 03-27-2009 04:26 AM

Thanks everyone. I love this quilt she made me. I'm so proud of her work. I know she uses this site all the time for all her ideas. She has started so many, but not finished alot of them yet. I think she has "Quilting ADD". I also am getting ideas from here. I'm in the process of making a "Drunkards Quilt". My daughter bought me the pattern for Christmas along with some material. It's hard! I'm about half way through it now..

Welcome to the quilting board sis, thanks for loading my pics. And I do not have quilting ADD.......i have UFO's and WIP.....ha.......Currently working on a bunny wall hanging for grandson coming at Easter (age 2), chicken quilt, and baby quilt........you are probably right, I have ADD.......oh well....now I have gotten side tracked into my back yard gardening. As granny use to say, not enough hours in the day, now I understand what that means. Keep sewing sis you are good at it.....it is addictive.

Looks great!

Harmony 03-27-2009 07:55 AM

We ALL suffer from quilting ADD! It's because we only have so many years on this earth, and there are SO MANY quilts to be made!

Your crazy quilt is gorgeous! You're a lucky sister!

LaurieE 03-27-2009 08:20 AM

That's really cute!

littlehud 03-27-2009 08:37 AM

What a beautiful quilt - glad to see your sister got you hooked on quilting too! Welcome from Oregon

angieagmw 03-27-2009 09:15 AM

Thanks again everyone for the compliments on her quilt and welcoming me. I need to have my sister fix her computer so she can download all her quilt pics. I love looking at everyones quilt pictures. There are so many people on here with alot of talent. Beautiful quilts!! I will post my "Drunkards Quilt", if I get it done!! It sure is hard to do. This message board gives me alot of tips and ideas. My sister lives too far away from me, to show me how to do anything. I have to learn by trial and error.

Grand quilt! Cheryl will always have something to do when she gets snowed in ... plan ahead, be prepared <g> that is the name of the game, right??? (at least that is what I have told my family for decades now)

Mplsgirl 03-27-2009 10:45 AM

That is a great quilt!

sew and sew--Great job! By the way, love the picture in your avatar.

Celeste 03-30-2009 08:54 PM

That sure is pretty!

Sew and Sew, did you use a pattern?

Sew and Sew 03-31-2009 07:55 AM

First of all I did go to a site and downloaded 4 block patterns that I kept repeating......I did not do it the way their instructions told you......because when I "cut" the pieces it ended up too small, so I did it my way......
1. Copied the 4 blocks
2. Cut out muslin, white fabric, whatever you have on hand. I used 12x12 inch block.
3. Then I took a magic marker, or pencil, or dispearing pen.....what ever (be aware of using light fabric and your ink showin through and copied the block drawings.........
4. The only fabric I cut into a pattern......was the 1st piece that goes down ( you will note when you get your patterns they are numbered in order they go down on each block.
5. After that 1st piece goes down......then the fun begins.....grap scraps ( you do not have to cut, just make sure it is big enough to cover the puzzle piece or pie shape you need.......then so it right sides together to piece 1, then open up to right side and press, then continue.......when you are through with that block.....you can square it up.......embellish however you want.
6.Then I sewed blocks into rows (already completed with embellishments, sewed rows together, then embelished the row seams....... that's it.......fun.....baby quilts do well with this too........just use your fabric....and if you have an embroidery machine, you can put little things on scattered pieces.....and perhaps make blocks smalller........it is really a no hassle, stress free way of doing it......really good for beginners........thanks

Love it, Love it, Love it!

RedGarnet222 03-31-2009 08:19 AM

Oh hey this thread is sweet. Sister's quilting and helping each other. Way cool girls. I couldn't get my sister to quilt for any reason. She is a woodworker/home decorator and the other one is a painter/ceramic queen. It works out though between us.

Nice crazy quilt sew and sew. I always change a pattern up to my liking too. Good thinking.

jeaninmaine 03-26-2011 11:10 AM

Love your quilt, thanks so much for the tutorial, the website is down that had the templates but I can probably get a good idea from your pictures. Thanks for putting them up.
