i tacked this little baby quilt with crow foot as well as regular tacking. the close up shows truer color.
another couple at church are expecting. we have 6 expectant parents at church. i make a quilt for each new baby. |
OO they will just love it .. I like the crow's feet.. very cute!
That is just adorable. I really like the crow foot tacking too! What a clever idea!!
You have some very lucky church members!
Very Pretty, I really like the crow feet as well.
The crow foot tacking gives it a nice texture!
nana, What a lucky baby. That is one beautiful quilt!!! :D :D :D Pam :D :D :D

Cool!! I don't suppose, your, ah, machine did that? It's a by hand situation? That makes it even more special. 6 new babies--and you make one for each one? Kisses to you, nana!!
I LOVE IT BUT JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW IT IS DONE. I CAN SEE WHAT YOU CALL CROWS FEET BUT WHAT ARE THE LONG THREADS?
BDor--that's where it's tied. Nana did both!! I think it'll make it extra durable. Right nana?
Now how cute is that?!! Crows feet to match the repro birdie fabric! I have that fabric by the way! You really did it justice with your other fabrics and embroidery touches! Those church babies are blessed to have a nana like you!
thank you barn, yes it is hand work. don't usually do hand work, but the piecing was so simple i thought it needed something a little more special. the crows feet is really fast. only took a few hours.
bdor, the long threads are the tacking. just make one stitch and leave a tail. it is a quick way to finish a quilt.
Very pretty!
So - tacking is tying? |
Celeste, Yep, you guessed it. :) :) :) Pam :) :) :)
hi loretta, yes i have heard the stitch called turkey tracks also.

Beautiful quilt--I love the crows foot
You are a special person to make all the new babies in your church quilts. |
Nano:
I'm so glad I decided to check out your "posts." I'm learning so much! Again, I have never seen crow foot tacking on a quilt. What a creative, neat idea. I love it and will definately use it in the future. Thanks for sharing. Your baby quilts are darling and your heart is extra special, too. How great of you to make new baby quilts for all the new little ones in your church. I'm sure you keep very BUSY making them. |
hi feathers, thanks for checking out my stuff.
i need lots of practice and baby quilts are the best way for me. i used to machine quilt each one but i have started adding hand work and find it addictive. very relaxing. we are not a really big church, about 200, but lots of fertile young couples    |
Hi Nanobird;
I used to crochet, knit and embroider but I have bad arthritis in my hands and I just can't do it anymore so I do everything on the machine..if it can't be done with the macine, it doesn't get done by me! |
I know what you mean about the arthritis, Feathers,. I have it in a lot of places I wish I hadn't :D . Hands are the worse though cause I'm addicted to hand quilting and counted cross stitch. When my thumb starts hurting and not working a take a rest and pop a few Ibupropens! In a little bit I'm at it again. :D Glutton for punishment. :D ) I have to look at EVERYTHING on this site and ALL the comments! Took me all night going from one to my in mail to another and back and forth! Finally learned (took a while.) to just go to the first one, and go back and forth to the picture forum to get to all the new ones! Now it only takes half the night and I get to bed before 1am. :D
