This is a quilt I made for some friends of mine that own a bar and grill. They had been saving the purple bags from all their bottles of Crown Royal whiskey. It was a little messy to work with. The fabric is similar to a flannel and I had purple fuzzies all over the house!

That turned out well. It is kind of a unique fabric to use. One of my guild members made each of us at the retreat a little bag using the Crown Royal bags. She stuffed it with squares of fabric that we could use to start sewing on to avoid having our piecing sucked into the bobbin case as some times happenes. It is our custom to give little favors at each meal durring the retreat. That particular lady always comes up with neat gifts. Her husband owned a neighborhood tavern for years.

It is beautiful.
I saw two quilts this past weekend at a quilt show in Grass Vallley, California made out of the Crown Royal bags as a center block for the stars. I have a cousin and all he drinks is Crown Royal, I am hoping he saves all the bags. I want to make him a quilt. |
Wow -- that turned out very nice!!

That is really cute, and what a great thing to do with all those little bags!
That is great. What a wonderful gift for them.
Thank you! I have TONS more of these bags, so if anyone has other examples of what could be done with them, I'd love to see them.
Did you have a pattern or just off the top of your head? I cant sew without a pattern? :O)
I would also like to have the pattern if you have one.
I love those bags. Great idea.
I just cut around the embroidery to make a useable square and went from there. I think it was a 4 or 4.5in square. The rest of the bags I cut into strips and strip-pieced with the yellow. Then I cut those into joined triangles to match. I tried to do whatever I could to use all the purple felt of each bag.
I'm sure I've seen a similar pattern, but I don't know what it's called. |
Very cool! My husband has a friend who is saving Crown bags in order to have a quilt made of them at some point. I didn't realize it was such a popular idea! :)
nice job
YES! thats it! whoo hooo Thanks a bunch!
That one turned out pretty. There was a contest some place on line for those quilts made with those bags.
Wow, I love it! One question though... who drank all the crown?
