I had the same experience as you with the place to turn it.
I decided there must be an easier way! I made a very large buttonhole on the underside of the frosting area. The top, or frosting was easy to turn right side out. Then I whipped stitched the buttonhole closed. |
Saw the pattern in either Nancy's Notions or Keepsake Quilting, now that I have seen yours I might order the pattern. Really nice!

How about if you make the opening under where the icing meets the cupcake. It's a little of overhang and you wouldn't be able to see it once it's turned. They are quite nice.
