I am wondring how to quilt this top by hand.
I love the way it turned out and am in a hurry finishing this up for sending it off to someone.

Very nice! What a lucky person to get this. As far as quilting by hand, I can't help. The only thing I do by hand is the binding. I'm sure someone here will be able to help. Thanks for sharing.

love the DP9, Panda, and I would do some cross hatching, run it out through the border to the edge.

I love your quilt, the simplicity of it is sooo neat! As for what to quilt on it, that is the problem I always have. Can't help you there, but the quilt is gorgeous!

I think cross hatching too. Your quilt is soft & so pretty!

Thanks, ladies. How can the cross hatchin go? Would that go like basically through the facing corners on small squares in the center top?

What I would do -- and I'm no expert is this: Mark the quilt, including all borders, from one top corner to the opposite bottom corner. Then mark desired width of rows -- maybe 1" to 1 1/2". I would only go the one way but after you do the complete quilt in one direction, you could do the same in the opposite direction. This would look like "diamonds" when done. Clear as mud???

So, cross hatching can ignore the corners of each small square? I thought of the quilting lines could go through every corner of the small squares...
okay, I will try putting some CHEATING mending tape tomorrow.
Thanks,

I don't hand quilt. I wish I could get the hang of it. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

SassySewer53 06-18-2010 05:20 PM

Cross Hatching is easiest. If you were machine quilting, I would echo quilt the perimeters of the squares, and then do a meandering freemotion design on borders, Nice work! I have never seen this design before. Will look to try making it sometime.
