Dabbling in my WIP's
4 Attachment(s)
I have several project I want to get done in the next few weeks so I dabbled in working on them (and cleaning my sewing room this weekend) while I think about how I am going to quilt my SAS quilt.
The first is a one block wonder. Block one has little to be desired but I wasn't fond of the chosen fabric to begin with but my sister is going to love it. I have most of it cut out. The next is one of 24 different oriental lantern blocks. I am going to like this one. This one is also for my sister. This is her lucky year, she will be getting three quilts. The first one which I have Officially called NEVER AGAIN has been about ten years in the making. I hate working on it!!!! It is made out of home decor weight fabrics. It's very heavy and been a pain it the butt. But it is next on my agenda. I just want to get it done. The one block wonder and lantern quilts are "please forgive me for taking so long on the first one" quilts. lol. The third is a big block (20" finished). I don't know the name of the pattern but have seen the it online a few times. I modified it to have some pinwheels in it. It's going to a guy and his wife who made some custom long arm quilting rulers for me. It was a work done in trade. I probably would have finished this top this weekend had I not ran out of black fabric by a 1/2 yard. 😏 So after a trip to the store and a few more cuts it will be ready to piece together. The last thing I have been playing with this weekend is the Mickey Mouse ten minute block. They are also big blocks (19" finished). There will be 9 in the quilt with one outside border. This quilt is now a 1/3 done. Im getting closer to knocking down my list and I have a partial idea of how I am going to quilt the SAS so that's where I will begin tomorrow after work. |
Terrific blocks, and glad you are making progress! :)
Keep at it, they are going to be great!
Every single one is fabulous!
love the Mickey ones best. But then again, i've spent over 50 days at Disney and love the place.
Looking good. BrendaK
Love the way you dabble.
Beautiful blocks , my favourite is the third down.
Lovely work. I have drawn the chinese lantern to do as a block of the month for someone at my quilting group.
Super Blocks....Keep up the great piecing...
very sharp looking!

You sure have been busy!
All are very pretty. I like the last two best.
all nicely done
Great blocks, but I LOVE the Mickey blocks!
All are so pretty!
You have some terrific future quilts in your future!! Love the MM one.
Beautiful work! I only have one suggestion. Don't sew the two halves of your hexagons together until you lay it out. They are easier to sew together in rows without Y seams. I love OBW's!!
They are all going to make great quilts. Sorry to tell you but the purple one is my favorite.
My wife and I also have a huge piece of your OBW fabric. I think we got it off a flat fold table at a discount fabric store. So far we have only used a bit of it for the back of one quilt, but we like it. This is our quilt: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t274898.html I can't wait to see all these quilts finished, and especially the SAS! Then we get to see what you're starting next! |
Beautiful! The purples are luscious.
Good luck I am working on my UFO's and believe me, I think I have the market cornered. I know I have more than any two membes on this board. Great looking blocks.
great projects and great progress... I'm sure it feels good to get them out of your WIP pile.
ALL the quilts are fabulous!
Great job! I could never work on that many at once, something would get messed up.
Please post the name of the third one . The purple one. I've seen the block on here a couple times and would like to make a table topper with that block. Thank you.
Love all your blocks and colors. Can't wait to see the finished pieces.
Love all your projects but interested in your 10 minute block. How did you get the red trim around edges and a middle square? When I made it it just used 3 pieces of fabric. Is there a book or web site to see how this is done? thanks!
You dabble very productively. I must say. The Mickey blocks look challenging. What a gem of a sister you are.

I love the black/purple block, but they are all beautiful and will make fantastic quilts. Keep on picking away at your quilts, as they do get done eventually and you're making lots of progress.
Nice blocks.
Great blocks. I especially love the Asian fabrics and the purple.
