I have made so many of these I think I can make them with my eyes shut, they are for a Raffle for the RSPCA (Royal Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) hope they bring a few dollars, my last cushions raised around $600 for Ovarian Cancer Research.

These are beautiful!!

WOW gorgeous! I would love to make them, could you tell me where you found the pattern?
Beautiful. I haven't had enough nerve to try that pattern.
Absolutely beautiful! Love the colors!
These are lovely - my mom would have been crazy for them, she loved Dahlias. :)
Beautiful design and fabric. However, I think you should do them with your eyes open because you could end up sewing over one of your fingers and that hurts! (LOL)
Love these! Someday I am going to try them.
The pattern is on the Board, just use "Search" and type "Folded Dahlia", look for my post from Carol Wilson I have worked out a way to use strips 3 1/2 x 6 inches.
If you have a problem finding it get back to me, like everything else it is easy when you know how. |
Very pretty. I'll bet you feel good knowing your talents are used for such a worthy purpose.
Carol,
I found your posts and one says you were going to post a tute on it but I never found that one. Did I overlook it? Thanks |
It is there, first find the main tutorial for "Folded Dahlia", instead of cutting squares for the petals, cut strips 6 x 3 1/2 inches, fold over 1/2 an inch on the long side wrong side to wrong side (this gives a neater finish) and then press the 3 inch side to the 3 inch side (right sides together) to give you your centre fold.
Follow the main tutorial for assembly, I would advise to do a few tacking stitches at the bottom of each "Petal" to hold it firm and I always do a row of top stitching around the last "Petal" to stand up to laundering. |
Thank you so much! I'm looking for fabric right now!
