After seeing the few that posted their "new baby", we ventured out today to get one for my daughter! WooHoo!!! She finally has her first sewing machine, a Brother SQ-9000 :) She named her Renesmee. BUT here's the kicker, if I want to use it I have to follow her rules  :-(

I know, tell me about it! She also has the fabric stash bug! When she picks stuff out I ask, what are you going to do with this? And she kindly says, I dunno, I might need it later on, just like what you do! That's all her new fabric stash and I have created a monster and I'll be broke shopping for two.

What a cute machine. Looks like there are two quilters in the house now. I love it.

Oh...exciting. Now she needs her own name on here and she can join the swap all by herself. tee hee

Now we don't have to fight over the sewing machine!

She's doing the Siggie block swap with me and at 11 years old, she's too young to register, but if I remember too, I'll be glad to post pics of her stuff :)

What a great thing you're doing, teaching your DD to love this wonderful craft! Rules, sew funny!!

craftybear 03-25-2010 10:31 PM

Wow, that is awesome!

I guessing that by making rules she intends to take very good care of her new baby. Kinda like having rules about our scissors...NO PAPER!

Nice!
There are rules? lmao

I'm a little jealous of her new machine. It's so cute I'd like to have one for myself. Can't wait to see what she does with her baby and the stash.

I think it is so neat to get your daughter interested in sewing, something you can share forever and ever. I had a lot of fun with my daughters making doll clothes, soft sculpture and clothes with them. I wasn't into making quilts while they were growing up but now one of my daughters is into quilting and we still work on projects together. She is a grandmother now so we have been making lots of toys for the grand and greatgrands.

Wow - she's only 11? What a great start on a life long love. I'm sure in years to come we'll see great things from her. Good going, Mom.

Thsi makes me smile! She must be a Twilight fan from the name of her machine! Looks like she needs to start savign her allowance to feed her addiction!

love the machine.

Just be thankful she likes to sew. I tried teaching my daughter how to make quilts and she didn't want to have anything to do with it. It bores her to tears. She doesn't mind asking me to make her quilts though, not that I'm complaining or anything like that.

Yup she is a huge fan, but sewing is starting to take over!

She was like that when I first started in '08. She hated going fabric shopping with me. When I made a blanket for our dog, she got jealous and so she started to make things. Now the monster is out full blast... It's fun now to go shopping but it's hurting my pocket

sylvia77 03-28-2010 12:39 PM

You could make her do chores around the house in exchange for buying her fabric, ect.

Crafty1 03-30-2010 07:15 AM

Well, not even 5 days in and it already started to act up. So disappointed :-( Returned it this morning.... Maybe it's a sign... A sign we shouldn't sew
