She spent yesterday going thru my stash trying to match up colors. The first pic is the colors she chose. She was trying to match colors to the yellow fabric with the flowers on it. I didn't tell her anything except if it looks good to you then it will work. The second one is colors I chose to go together and she loved it mainly because it is her school colors, black and gold. Now let's see if she takes the next step and sews them together.

So great she wants to quilt!!!
I can't get my girls to try it yet and they 23, 26 & 28.
Maybe when they "settle down"

How great!

I taught my two girls to quilt as well. My oldest daughter made 2 small quilts and the youngest made only 1/2 of one since she wasn't really "into that kind of thing". I homeschooled them for 9 years so I had the time.

Definitely want a progress report periodically. And I love the color of your cutting mat, btw.

The cutting mat she is using is the very first mat I got when I started quilting. It is an old purple june taylor mat.
I now use a june taylor cut and press, which I have almost worn out and I have only had it for about 5 months.lol

I teach young children how to sew and the imagination they have is amazing..Please post pics as she completes her project as many of us will keep watching for it.

Lovely to see your daughter is going to take after you in the sewing tradition, my own DD is just coming round to it, fingers crossed! I am sure your daughter will want to see how her chosen colours will come together, get her started on joining them, doing it together, and it won't seen so daunting for her. Looking forward to seeing the top finished.

Isn't it a great feeling when our kids finally appreciate what we've been doing for a while. Great that she's having ago. My 2nd DD has pieced two top for her children, and now she's waiting for me to finish em. Onlyproblem is I won't.
She started em, she finishes em. Could be a long wait.

QweenBee 08-08-2010 09:02 PM
