Deep in the heart of Texas

1 Attachment(s)
This is the quilt I made using Moda's Deep in the heart of Texas. I did tumbler block for the center, & used the binding thingy to make the braids. I used the matching panel squares for the corners on the two borders. I'm quilting it with hearts in the colored sections & texas in the black borders.

Where did you get the eagle panel? I have been looking for one.

Your quilt is super! Is that another braid section on the ironing board getting ready to put on your amazing eagle panel?

My DH is from the Lone Star State & I've been debating getting this fabric. Did you like it? I sure do like what you did with this quilt & know if my DH saws it, it'd be living in Wi ASAP... LOL! Great job!

Cindy60545 05-03-2012 04:15 PM

drgranny,
I picked it up at Sewing & Quilt Expo in Lakeland, FL this past January, but you can go to their site & check out their latest panel. They might still have this one. www.freedomstarunited.com. Names are Duane & Deb Granger. Really nice folk.

burchquilt - I did enjoy working with this fabric. Moda makes some really nice cloth. P.S. I could be persuaded to sell it...over my DH's dead body!!

You go, fellow Texas gal!!!! Love it. Soooo colorful & pretty. Love scrappy too.
Where did the little "Texas" come from that's in the corners?

simpsonfs 05-05-2012 04:18 AM

Very creative use of the fabrics.....a Texan would love it!

debcavan 05-05-2012 04:44 AM

Cool quilt. That braid border is so sharp. That eagle panel in the background is really good looking.

This is wonderful fabric. I made curtains for my bathroom out of the white with bluebonnets. I have all the collection. Also there is a new out for this year.

Looks wonderful! Nice job! :)

Cindy60545 05-11-2012 01:43 AM

the "binding thingy" is a binding tool. Go to Missouri Star Quilt & they have a tutorial on using it both for binding & doing the braids. Makes it really simple.

Cindy60545 05-11-2012 01:45 AM

the corners came in a panel of squares. I just chose those particular ones to use for the corners.
