deer memory quilts

2 Attachment(s)
I made these two quilts to honor our son who was a hunter. He passed in 2001 and left behind his two girls aged 3 and 6. Now they are all grown and made them a quilt for the winter to use on the couch in their new homes. Both just purchased their own homes.
I used the Take 5 block and lots of plaids and some homespun.

The quilts are the same and fit on top of a queen mattress. One quilt has an owl block in the upper left corner and the second one has a tree block.
Quilted, finished today and ready to gift soon.

Cute quilts and a wonderful memento of their father!

I am sure the girls will love these quilts. I love the fussy cut deer blocks and the use of the homespun-looking plaids to make them feel rustic.

Thank you about our loss, he was 35 but he is totally in each daughter. His first has his crazy laugh and the second is tall like him. Both have his beautiful blue eyes and his sense of humor, they are fun girls to be around.

farmquilter- that must be wonderful! So glad you have those girls. (and I'm sure they feel the same about you)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. The pain of a lost child is crushing. We lost our eldest son in 2000 and know some of what you are going through. I am sure your granddaughters are thankful to have you in their lives. Great memory quilts!
