I can see this being a great 'family' quilt, you know one where everyone sits on the couch cuddled up with a good movie on a cold night and warm & snuggly under this big 'ole quilt! Might make a few memories that way too!

Flannel would be good, light weight and warm, as the denim should be heavy enough to keep your FAMILY warm.

That is a Family Picnic Quilt!!! My family had one that we took on every family outing for many, many years. It will be well loved!!

I love it, denim quilts are so unique and warm. There is something so cozy about denim. I’ve only recently heard about birthing quilts and that would work for your quilt. You could tie it. I like Laquita’s & Unique Creations’ ideas for you on how to use it. If you like camping it could be a camping quilt. Whatever you do with it, it will be a well loved quilt.

Perfect for the beach, camping, kids playing in the yard. I think this is a great idea!

Unique Creations is right, it would be great for picnics and at the beach.

karenm36 05-08-2011 04:57 AM

Flannel it seems would be plenty enough for the quilt as denim is so heavy. This is wonderful!

I see a picnic and a nap in the shade on this quilt. Great quilt. Thanks for sharing.

Now that's a quilt and it's awesome.

debcavan 05-08-2011 09:02 AM

Wow, it is huge and it is wonderful. Your stash is so neat behind it.

I saw one like this where the family had a large dog who insisted on sleeping on the bed during the day time. The quilt went to the floor all the way around and then doubled up so it would go under the pillows and them up over them.

Sounds like this quilt will do the same. It would look very good in a log cabin type bedroom, with jeans pillows on a chair.

That is one BIG quilt...I love it. That is your stash...WOW...I want to make one too! Not sure that big though. I love your avatatr picture. Where did you find the pattern?

jackied 05-08-2011 07:07 PM

I love denim quilts, have made 3 myself. I would just back it with flannel and tye it. It will be a tough wearing quilt for a long time!

wolph33 05-08-2011 07:07 PM

QuiltnNan 05-09-2011 06:59 AM

that is one gigantic quilt for sure. i think your birthing idea is good

Airwick156 05-25-2011 01:20 AM

That is one HUGE quilt. I love it. You have lots of cool fabric I see. AND its all color coded to boot. LOL.

jeaninmaine 05-25-2011 01:33 AM

If you're going to use it on the bed or as some kind of covering, I'd put flannel. But if you're going to use it at the beach or on picnics, I'd think flannel would pick up everything a lot more than a tighter weave fabric would.
