LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did you back it with? Did you use batting, or is it just a front and a back?

Yvonne 08-08-2007 03:45 PM

I used a blue plaid fabric I found in the $1/yard rack at Wal-Mart. I used a low loft batting...yet, for some reason, it didn't make the quilt super heavy like everyone here had said it would.

SandraJennings 08-08-2007 04:24 PM

LoL. I did miss a few points, but they're off by a couple of millimeters so you can't even notice unless you're really looking. I was real careful in making sure everything lined up.

Well, if I could get my pictures onto Photobucket I could show you what I had in mind for another quilt.

Norah 08-08-2007 04:36 PM

Show us your cute little face while you are at it, okay?

But I wanted some weight to it, but I didn't want it to be so heavy that it'd be too uncomfortable to sleep under. It feels too light to me...it feels almost as light as the flannel tie quilt I have on my bed.

live2teach 08-08-2007 04:57 PM

Wow! Great Denim quilt! It looks comfy!

great quilt FVG. it was well worth the wait.

cynde 08-08-2007 09:11 PM

FVG, my son had his first guitar lesson today and a girl in his group had a cool guitar which I learned was a flying V.

Is that you in your avatar? When I first saw it I thought it might be your favorite rock band (well if your in it, it probably is anyway)

Pam Pollock 08-08-2007 10:53 PM

Love it! It looks so soft & comfy. Did you buy your denim or salvage it from used jeans? I've been saving denim from jeans to make a quilt but have a long way to go to have enough for a quilt of any size. Your quilt is inspiring!

Pam

What a terrific looking quilt!! You are photogenic, that's a great picture of you. The quilt almost makes me want to go look for more denim, ALMOST! I have enough going on for now.

Did you use regular denim jeans to make the patches? There are many different weights in denim so that may be why your quilt is lighter in weight. We had one when I was a kid that would hold you in the bed once you drew it up over you. I never had to worry about falling out of bed for sure!

Beautiful work, girlfriend!!
Sharon

I love your picture and I love that young people are interested in quilting.

Norah 08-09-2007 08:46 AM

Well, I for one, think you are gorgeous!! Thank you for putting your picture up. I love to see who I am talking to. It makes it so much easier to relate. I have a bunch of denim. Now I need the energy.

vicki reno 08-09-2007 11:36 AM

WOW :!: :!: :!: :!: You really did a good job :!: Give yourself a great big pat on the bck from all of us and a high five too. It looks so warm, but I think i"ll wait a while for you to send it. Its 102 right now in North Carolina. But next time I go to the moutains, I will take it and proudly put it on the bed up there :!:  Super job! I didn't pay attention in English in school and am running out of adjectives. Good picture too. Lots of us aren't happey with the way we look, but other people are! You look very pretty to me!

ShellyQ 08-09-2007 12:03 PM

Wow that looks really fab FVG all that hard work and perserverance has paid off big time

LoL. You were right the first time...the avatar is of my favorite band, Kittie. And no, I do not play in this band. The one playing the Flying V guitar up front is Morgan Lander and the one playing the drums is her sister, Mercedes.

My friend (who was pregnat at the time when I started making this quilt) had a lot of jeans that either weren't going to fit her anymore or ones she didn't like so she gave them to me so I could make this quilt. I think she gave me 8 or 10 pairs of jeans.

I didn't say I wasn't pretty. I said I wasn't photogenic. LoL. I just think I don't look all that great in most pictures.

Yeah, I know how you feel (feeling like the only younger person here.) Though, it really doesn't help that I look younger than I really am. LoL

That quilt is fantastic! I'm sorry that it did not go to who it was origanally intended to. He really missed out. I'm gonna join the others and put my name in the hat for it!

Yeah, I'd like to think he missed out...damn, now I'm feeling the hurt again. I think I'm gonna hit that ice cream bucket in the freezer. Mmmm....chocolate.

tomswife 08-21-2007 05:40 PM

Great job on your quilt!

Four years ago after my dad passed away, I got all of his blue jeans and made my mom a quilt. She put it on her bed and says it is such a comfort having it. That's what I love about quilting, you can get comfort while you are making a quilt and then give it away to someone.

Keep up the good work!

amma 08-21-2007 06:08 PM

You are such a cutie!!! :D :D :D :D :D
Love the quilt, you did such a great job on it! Let's see, avoid the name drawing.................... hmmmm, road trip to Wisconsin $300.00..................... getting caught breaking and entering, court costs, fees, fines, etc..... $Big Money.................. worth it???????? YOU BET
Ok, I am just kidding, BUT, your quilt is priceless and you should be very proud of yourself!!!!!

sherriah 08-23-2007 11:39 AM
