Actually, the empty hole is to put my cut threads in as I sew.

Yes, we are blessed indeed! He is looking at making me a custom sewing table with an inset for my machine...and also a couple of racks to put my roll of paper and my roll of batting on so it will feed off something like a paper towel holder. :-)

What a great idea. I realised I needed something to keep things together and have a beaker blu-tacked close to my sewing machine. LOL Would love something like what your DH made for you!
