WooHoo. I didn't hear you say anything about needing more thread. But DH knows what a woman wants I see. Congrats.

I have a 223 Singer too. This baby will sew through the heavy stuff. I just used mine to sew through 4 thickness of fleece. I call mine Sherman, as in tank. Very heavy to lug around but really durable.

did you create a Singer Monster!

I agree, "... just what have I created" in regards to my own DH! He is constantly online looking for vintage machines, and every other day we go to whatever Thrift and Goodwill stores we happen to drive by.

Just tonight he sent me 8 pics of various old machines, wanting my opinion on nothing more than the price they were listed for. He is more into collecting them now than I am! For the moment, I am content with my "New Automatic" treadle and the "Domestic" from the 60s I have. LoL

Don't stop him...just let me borrow him for a while. I don't have a dear hubby to bring me great things:(

Nice that your hubby is interested in the sewing machines.
How many machines do you have? I'm almost embarassed to admit it, but 11 live here right now - about 10 too many in hubby's opinion.
At least 3 are going to DD, DIL, 1 of our sons as soon as I clean them. The rest each have a use - quilt piecing, travel size, heavy duty mending, leg exercise (treadle), serger and so forth.
I see many at Goodwill, yard sales, etc that I could buy, but would not use more than I have, so I gawk & pass them by.

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't have a sewing machine right now. I had a cheap mini one that died not too long ago, but I like hand work so I'm not too upset. But I've been looking at thrift stores, on craigslist, at peddlers fairs and garage sales and have yet to find a working sewing machine that I can afford. :( pardon my whining.
