No, no tips. I cut triangles. Next one I might fold fabric and cut whole diamonds. they would look better. I was just using up fabrics I had on hand. You would put them together in rows on an angle. Easy that way. I recently bought a pattern Diamond Alley by Sassafras Lane. diamonds with small diamonds in them. Pieced blocks really.

I love your fabrics. They look so old-fashioned!
Did you press the diamonds open? Did you quilt on either side of the ditch? I like the look - simple and sets off the diamonds nicely instead of meandering over them. |
That is lovely.
Did you cut two triangles of the same fabric and join them to form a diamond? Duh -it is early in the morning here I and I just re-read your post. You have already answered my question about the triangles. Thanks. |
I did press the seams open. I did the stitching 1/4 on each side of the seams and continued them into the border. Just to get the thing done! Yes I cut two of each fabric and matched them together. although cutting a whole diamond would have done better with print fabrics.I sewed my rows of triangles straight across, if using whole diamonds just sew them at an angle going across. Oh, I will put a plug in for Clover Soft Touch Thread pic. I soaked my quilt and noticed in the orange border that there were two very dark brown threads glaring at me through the orange fabric. I got my Clover picker and went into the fabric and worked around and caught the threads and pulled them out. Job done!!
